Football and music

First, still nothing definitive on the mammogram results.  I see the oncologist in October, so maybe something then?  In the meantime, I'm trying to not stress about it and am trying to enjoy the cooler fall weather!

This weather rocks!  I do have to admit that I was quite chilled this morning by the time I got home from taking Jordan to his early morning departure with the band.  I guess I've got to learn to dress for fall and wear more than my comfy jammy pants and a sweater, along with Iowa slippers, of course, to drive to the high school early in the morning!  Taltos was nice enough to snuggle with me for a while after I got back home, to help me warm up!  Nice kitty.  : )

I've been crafting like a crazy lady.  Hmmmmmm...... perhaps I should rephrase that?!  I most certainly do go in phases with my crafting.  Right now, I'm making cold porcelain things to help me decorate bird houses.  I am sending my bird houses to a craft show near St. Louis in a couple of weeks, so I really do need to finish a bunch of them up this weekend.  I'm not going to the craft show, just my bird houses.  They are going along with a friend, who is taking her own crafty things.  Lets hope that St. Louis people like bird houses!!

You would think that with two teenage boys in the house, and it being fall football weather, we'd be elbows deep in pads and helmets and cleats and all things football.  We are not.  We are wearing out the tread on the tires going to band and choir and all things musical.  Jordan is in the band and marching band contest is in full swing.  Besides football games and the occasional parade, there are the contests.  Two contests on the same day last weekend.  Two contests today.  They leave early and they get home late.  They practice daily at 7 am, before they practice during school.  They play and they march and they do very, very well in those band contests.

Jordan is also involved in the Show Choir this year.  That "season" is not yet in full swing, thankfully!  That will wait until after marching band is done with.  Whew.  He is also in the regular choir and has just landed a part in the high school musical, which starts practice on Monday.    Music is definitely his sport.

Jonah has also become quite musical.  He's the lead alto saxophone in the band this year.  He is also in choir, and has tried out for the state honor choir, Opus, which he had to learn some Latin for.  He did the recording for that last week..... after being at school at, you guessed it, 7 a.m. for several days for practice, and then staying after school for more practice and recordings.

Which brings me to today.  A Saturday, in the middle of college football season, and my teenage boys are off doing musical activities.  Well, Jonah is here, but he is not here with me watching College Game Day on ESPN.  He's upstairs and every once in a while I hear music wafting down from up there.  I am a music lover.  I loved marching band and concert band and am known to crank the tunes in the car and kitchen on a regular basis.  However, I will be watching the Iowa game in a while, and most likely, the tv will have a game on most, if not all, of the day.   My crafts and I.......  watching football, while my teenage sons take their musical talents and expand on them.  : )  I'm so glad that's the way it's working out!

I'm off to enjoy my day.  I'm looking forward to relaxing and enjoying.  And football and crafting.  And being involved in the musical world!

  1. Wow! Who woulda thought they'd be more interested in music?! That's fantastic! Brings back memories! I was in the marching band a very, very long time ago. And contests...ah the memories!

Psalms 18:30-32 As for God, his way is perfect: the word of the LORD is tried: he is a buckler to all those that trust in him. For who is God save the LORD? or who is a rock save our God? It is God that girdeth me with strength, and maketh my way perfect.

Ephesians 3:16-21 That he would grant you, according to the riches of his glory, to be strengthened with might by his Spirit in the inner man; That Christ may dwell in your hearts by faith; that ye, being rooted and grounded in love, May be able to comprehend with all saints what is the breadth, and length, and depth, and height; And to know the love of Christ, which passeth knowledge, that ye might be filled with all the fulness of God. Now unto him that is able to do exceeding abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that worketh in us, Unto him be glory in the church by Christ Jesus throughout all ages, world without end. Amen.

When thou passest through the waters, I will be with thee; and through the rivers, they shall not overflow thee: when thou walkest through the fire, thou shalt not be burned; neither shall the flame kindle upon thee. For I am the LORD thy God, the Holy One of Israel...

1 John 1:1-4 That which was from the beginning, which we have heard, which we have seen with our eyes, which we have looked upon, and our hands have handled, of the Word of life; (For the life was manifested, and we have seen it, and bear witness, and shew unto you that eternal life, which was with the Father, and was manifested unto us;) That which we have seen and heard declare we unto you, that ye also may have fellowship with us: and truly our fellowship is with the Father, and with his Son Jesus Christ. And these things write we unto you, that your joy may be full.

  5. What words of comfort! Praying so right now!
Revelation 21:1-4 And I saw a new heaven and a new earth: for the first heaven and the first earth were passed away; and there was no more sea. And I John saw the holy city, new Jerusalem, coming down from God out of heaven, prepared as a bride adorned for her husband. And I heard a great voice out of heaven saying, Behold, the tabernacle of God is with men, and he will dwell with them, and they shall be his people, and God himself shall be with them, and be their God. And God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes; and there shall be no more death, neither sorrow, nor crying, neither shall there be any more pain: for the former things are passed away.
