It's hard to believe, but shoes are a very important part of a wedding. I have to admit, that, by the time we were on our third wedding, in three years, with my third child getting married, my footwear selection had gone from fancy to comfortable. However, the mother of the child getting married's choice of footwear is nothing compared to the choice of the bridal party. From heels to flats to flip-flops, to custom dyed shoes to off the rack selections, comfort is usually not as important of an option as is style, for the younger generations anyway! Dresses and shoes and hair styles, oh my!

The shoes of the flower girl adorn a chair, not her feet, in the time leading up to the wedding. |
 |
The shoes of a brides' maid, left on the floor when their owner arose from the couch, perhaps? More forgotten shoes, prior to the wedding. |
 |
Ahhhhh.... the Bride's shoes. Lounging, forgotten, on the church room floor, while their owner paces without them and awaits her wedding ceremony's beginning. |
 |
Hmmmmm...... the Bride's shoes did make it to the reception, but sadly, were abandoned, left out to fend for themselves in the rain, swapping sad stories with the trash can, I suppose. |
 |
The mailbox.... important for holding cards for the newlyweds at the reception. It looks like someone, perhaps the mother of the bride herself, rescued the forlorn shoes from the elements and gave them shelter from the rain. : ) |

So, as important as Wedding Shoes are, they are also, obviously, expendable, when it comes to comfort. And dancing. And pacing. And waiting. As delightfully stylish as the shoes may be, they most certainly do not ensure that a good time will be had by all....... unless, perhaps, the shoes are taken off. : )
This is so funny!
ReplyDeletePraying that these words give you comfort!
John 14:1-3 Let not your heart be troubled: ye believe in God, believe also in me. In my Father's house are many mansions: if it were not so, I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you. And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again, and receive you unto myself; that where I am, there ye may be also.

ReplyDeletePsalms 121:1-4 I will lift up mine eyes unto the hills, from whence cometh my help. My help cometh from the LORD, which made heaven and earth. He will not suffer thy foot to be moved: he that keepeth thee will not slumber. Behold, he that keepeth Israel shall neither slumber nor sleep.

Psalms 121:5-8 The LORD is thy keeper: the LORD is thy shade upon thy right hand. The sun shall not smite thee by day, nor the moon by night. The LORD shall preserve thee from all evil: he shall preserve thy soul. The LORD shall preserve thy going out and thy coming in from this time forth, and even for evermore.

ReplyDeleteRomans 5:1-4 Therefore being justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ: By whom also we have access by faith into this grace wherein we stand, and rejoice in hope of the glory of God. And not only so, but we glory in tribulations also: knowing that tribulation worketh patience; And patience, experience; and experience, hope:
