Doggie Update and Wedding Dress Weekend

Lynn, you may still be laughing about my mom taking Chief  (as Chief Blackhawk is now his official name!).  However, it is truly wonderful!  (and I know that you are laughing in a wonderful way!)  Those two get along amazingly well!  It seems that Chief's history is almost as upsetting as my Buddy's and Chester's.  I don't know about Chief's beginning, except that he was born in Texas.  Somehow he ended up in a shelter somewhere in Texas, where Candice's brother adopted him.  Then he moved to Kansas City, and finally here. He is wonderfully well behaved.  No messes in the house.  He listens to Mom when he is outside.  And boy does he love to snuggle!  He rarely leaves mom's side!  Which is pretty amazing, considering that he is only about 2 years old.  We don't know how many owners he had before the shelter, but even if it were just one, you count one owner, one shelter, another owner, a trip to Candice's mom, the outdoor kennel at Candice's, 2 nights at our house, and now living with my mom.  That's a lot for a little, young guy to absorb!  I'm not sure I'd be as trusting and loving as he is!  He and Mom are perfect for each other!  : )

The boys got out of school early today for conferences and have no school tomorrow.  That makes me happy, in that I get to sleep a weeeee little bit later tomorrow!  : )  Every minute of extra sleep counts!  Tomorrow they will go to their dad's.  Bright and early Sat. morning, Mom and I will load up and head up to Amber's.  Then, the 3 of us will head to Iowa City and the great wedding dress adventure!  There we will meet up with Amy, of course, Chris's mom and sister, brides maids, the flower girl, and other family members.  It's gonna be a crowd!  And it's gonna be fun!  : )    I am very much looking forward to sharing this special weekend with all of these people!  Sat. night we are all going out to eat together.  We are staying in IA City Sat. night, too.  I can't think of a better way to start the wedding celebration of Chris and Amy!  Let the JOY begin!

In other news, I'm trying to get in to gear to get ready for another craft show in March.  For some reason, I find myself making baby things, in anticipation of new baby arrival in July, rather than making things to sell!  How on earth am I supposed to control excitement over wedding and a baby and concentrate on making items to sell????  Oh!  The trials of being crafty!  Hehee

Other wise, things are good.  Bruce is doing well in PA.  The boys are doing well in school.  I'm lovin my job and livin in Keokuk.  Eric is still in WY, playing with trains!  Candice is working and being pregnant and waiting for Eric to get done in WY.  Amber and Dustin are settling into their new house.    Chris and Amy and planning the rest of their lives.  Mom and Chief are snugly across the way.  Buddy and Chester and Taltos and Jojo are all happy and do their best to keep me warm through the winter.  I love my family and my friends and my pets.  Life is awesome!

  1. Loved every word of this update! It's very obvious that the Lord's been working here bringing Chief and your mom together! They were made for each other! Now if He'd only do the same for me....
Love that life is so good there now!!!!!!
    Always lifting up prayer!
Psalms 40:5, 11, 13 Many, O LORD my God, are thy wonderful works which thou hast done, and thy thoughts which are to us-ward: they cannot be reckoned up in order unto thee: if I would declare and speak of them, they are more than can be numbered. (11) Withhold not thou thy tender mercies from me, O LORD: let thy lovingkindness and thy truth continually preserve me. (13) Be pleased, O LORD, to deliver me: O LORD, make haste to help me.

  2. These words are always so very comforting! Praying!
John 14:1-3 Let not your heart be troubled: ye believe in God, believe also in me. In my Father's house are many mansions: if it were not so, I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you. And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again, and receive you unto myself; that where I am, there ye may be also.

  3. What comfort we have knowing that the Lord is our Refuge! Praying!
Psalms 46:1-5 God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble. Therefore will not we fear, though the earth be removed, and though the mountains be carried into the midst of the sea; Though the waters thereof roar and be troubled, though the mountains shake with the swelling thereof. Selah. There is a river, the streams whereof shall make glad the city of God, the holy place of the tabernacles of the most High. God is in the midst of her; she shall not be moved: God shall help her, and that right early.
