We live in a fairly large house. Not a lot of storage here, but lots of room in the rooms. However, we have more "stuff" than even this house can handle. I've thrown things away and thrown things away. I've boxed and re-boxed and sorted and piled and crammed the closets full. The basement has "stuff" in it. I may never, ever, ever get caught up with all of the excess laundry that has erupted from washing blankets, coats, clothes and such that smelled quite musty after being stored for so many months.
I am, you will be pleased to know, making progress though! The living room is basically back to normal from the influx of "Stuff". The kitchen has only a few boxes let that need to find homes. The downstairs hallway is quite full of "Stuff", but it's not in any one's way at all. The room between the kitchen and the dining room (I sure wish I could come up with a name for that room!) is the worst. It is full of boxes and boxes of Bruce's "Stuff". I'm not going through his stuff and sorting it all. I'm not happy with the piles of "Stuff" that are sitting in that room, but I'll deal with it if I must.
The dining room is another story. My extra large, 10 chair holding table, is as small as we can make it. Up against the windows, rather than in the middle of the room, it's not holding nearly as much "Stuff" as it was. We can actually even sit and eat at that table again! The old dining room table is unassembled and sitting in the downstairs hallway. The plan for that table is to eventually get it upstairs to the sewing/craft room, cover it well, then use it for crafting/sewing projects. However, we now have 16 dining room chairs. 16. Given the size of our growing family, we can use 16 dining room chairs. Finding homes for 16 dining room chairs is a challenge. Right now they are hither and yither around the dining room. A few of them are stacked atop each other. A couple of them are holding boxes of Christmas decorations, just waiting for the arrival of a tree in our house. One chair is residing in the living room, currently assigned to hold a basket of cleanly laundered sheets, waiting to be carted upstairs and put away.
I know what to do with 16 dining room chairs. Fill them with family and friends! Gather them around the extra large table and enjoy special times in them. Heck, we can even take the 2nd dining room table and place end to end with the extra large one. The will reach from the dining room into the un-named room, but 16 chairs would go around them with ease and 16 people could all sit at the "same" table for a meal. Yes, I know what to do with 16 dining room chairs. What I can't figure out is how to store 16 dining room chairs!
What will probably happen is that most every room in the house is going to have a dining room chair decorating it. They will hold laundry, cats, shoes, coats, book bags, books, and a myriad of other things as they adorn rooms throughout this house. They will take the memories of times at a dining room table and share them with the rest of the house. And, then, every now and then, all 16 chairs will gather together, be filled with people in my dining room, and make a whole lot more memories. I can't wait until the day comes when 16 dining room chairs isn't enough for us all!
How about calling it "ditchen"? Combo of dining and kitchen and you ditch stuff in it!
ReplyDeleteContinuing to lift up prayers!
Hebrews 4:14-16 Seeing then that we have a great high priest, that is passed into the heavens, Jesus the Son of God, let us hold fast our profession. For we have not an high priest which cannot be touched with the feeling of our infirmities; but was in all points tempted like as we are, yet without sin. Let us therefore come boldly unto the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy, and find grace to help in time of need.
Know that I'm here lifting up thoughts and prayers.
ReplyDeletePsalms 107:28-31 Then they cry unto the LORD in their trouble, and he bringeth them out of their distresses. He maketh the storm a calm, so that the waves thereof are still. Then are they glad because they be quiet; so he bringeth them unto their desired haven. Oh that men would praise the LORD for his goodness, and for his wonderful works to the children of men!

ReplyDeletePsalms 32:6-7 For this shall every one that is godly pray unto thee in a time when thou mayest be found: surely in the floods of great waters they shall not come nigh unto him. Thou art my hiding place; thou shalt preserve me from trouble; thou shalt compass me about with songs of deliverance. Selah.
Whatever lies ahead, the Lord is with you! Praying! Oh...and we need more than 16 chairs...we're running out of room! ;o)
ReplyDeletePsalms 32:8, 10-11 I will instruct thee and teach thee in the way which thou shalt go: I will guide thee with mine eye. (10-11) Many sorrows shall be to the wicked: but he that trusteth in the LORD, mercy shall compass him about. Be glad in the LORD, and rejoice, ye righteous: and shout for joy, all ye that are upright in heart.
