Yup. It's Fall. All one has to do, should you not believe me, is to look in my back yard. There sits my car. Covered in leaves that have "fallen" from the tree above. It is also covered in other, not so pleasant things from the birds that sit in the tree above, but, since I like birds and trees, I guess it's just one of those things to be dealt with!
Usually Fall is my most favorite time of year. Cooler weather, after the summer heat. Gorgeous, colorful leaves (unless they have fallen onto my car. Then, not so gorgeous!). And y'all know how much of a football fan I am! I could live in a sports bar during football season! For all of the televisions, of course. : )
Even knowing that Winter follows Fall, I still usually love the autumn season.
And, again, y'all know how much I have "adored" winter the past few years. Whew! Those winters up there in the flatlands left an awful lot for this River Hill's girl to desire. Wow! Seriously. 81 inches of snow? Snow still on the ground the 1st of May? Contests to see who has the biggest snow pile by the end of winter? More blizzards than I can count in 5 winters? It's no wonder that I about had a fit when, after moving back "south", there was a record breaking Blizzard here in the hill country. Good grief!
However, I've made up my mind that that record breaking blizzard was a fluke, a mistake, a rarity that won't happen yet again in my life time. It just won't. It can't. I've had years of flatland winters and I want my "Banana Belt of Iowa" winters back! I can tolerate the falling of leaves and the bird gifts on my car. I can do that because I KNOW that winter is next. And I KNOW that winter here will not be like the previous 5 winters that I endured "up north".
I'm watching the leaves fall, knowing that soon it will be snow. But, I'm smiling my smug little smile, just knowing that this winter will be a piece of cake to get through. 81 inches of snow in one winter? I think not! No more of that nonsense for me! My snow blower will get little use this season. Boots? Who needs 'em. Blizzards? They'll not bother me here. I'm in the River Hills, the Banana Belt of Iowa. Fall is here. Winter is next. Bring it on. : )
You keep those thoughts about the level of snow you're going to get this year...plenty of thoughts of bananas!
ReplyDeleteKnow that I'm always here praying!
Romans 8:35, 37-39 Who shall separate us from the love of Christ? shall tribulation, or distress, or persecution, or famine, or nakedness, or peril, or sword?...Nay, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him that loved us. For I am persuaded, that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor powers, nor things present, nor things to come, Nor height, nor depth, nor any other creature, shall be able to separate us from the love of God, which is in Christ Jesus our Lord.
In Chronological Bibles Job is the first book. The promise of the resurrection was given from the beginning! What comfort these words give! Praying!
ReplyDeleteJob 19:25-27 For I know that my redeemer liveth, and that he shall stand at the latter day upon the earth: And though after my skin worms destroy this body, yet in my flesh shall I see God: Whom I shall see for myself, and mine eyes shall behold, and not another; though my reins be consumed within me.
