A week from now I will have a son in law. He will be the newest member of our family, though Dustin has been around since Amber was in 8th grade. Amber is now 26. Dustin is a year older, 27. How awesome is that? Think of all the things that they have shared already, at their young ages. Think of all of the things that they have yet to see and do and share. Now, it's wedding week, and they will share that cycle of events with us all. Family and friends from far and wide will filter in over the week, to be here next Saturday to help them celebrate.
The week after the wedding, they will be closing on their first house. Another experience that they get to share. And I'm sure we will all get to help share in that one, too.... in the painting and packing and moving! After getting the opportunity to share in their wedding celebration, helping them to move into their own home is only another blessing.
Tomorrow we do the very last little thing on the wedding dress. By Wednesday we will be in decorating mode for the reception. Thursday the family starts rolling in and there will be a gathering around my big ol' table. On Friday, it's rehersal and a night at the motel with the bride and the bridesmaids, and more of the family.
Then, it's the end of Wedding Week, and the start of Wedding Day. Me with no camera, armed with my dancing shoes and surrounded by family and friends, I will watch my daughter marry the guy she's been hanging around with since Jr. High. I'll snap pictures in my mind to carry with me forever, dance until my toes are sore, and be happy in the company of all around me.
It's Wedding Week. Here's to Amber and Dustin.... enjoy every minute. You are both very blessed and I love you. : )

Been through this a few times...you're in for an amazing ride! Enjoy every second of it!
ReplyDeleteSuch words of comfort. Still praying!
John 14:1-3 Let not your heart be troubled: ye believe in God, believe also in me. In my Father's house are many mansions: if it were not so, I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you. And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again, and receive you unto myself; that where I am, there ye may be also.
