Class of '81 Reunion

It's Reunion weekend here in Keokuk for the Class of '81. I didn't make it to the 25th reunion...I was just beginning to learn about the Cancer Journey. I survived and will make it to the 30th reunion! : )

I thought that high school was wonderful! I'm probably not remembering the "bad" stuff, but honestly, high school was awesome. I was a Band Geek (and quite proud of it!), was on the golf team (I won one tournament and still have the medal), and while I certainly didn't roll through those 4 years without issues, I'm not one of those people who remember their high school years as a torturous time. I didn't hang with the most popular kids... I wouldn't have been comfortable there at all. I didn't hang with the "bad" kids..... whoever they were. My friends were from a wide variety of backgrounds and family types and they were, and still are, an awesome support system for me.

Beyond my close friends in high school, I cannot think of a single person from the class of '81 who was ever not nice to me. Again, I may be looking at history through rose colored glasses, but isn't that wonderful? To think of high school with only good thoughts and memories. With no remembrances of bullying or teasing or other high school drama memories.

With memories like that, with friends from the past who are still my friends today, with people who I look forward to seeing, I enter Reunion Weekend. Thank you God, for healing me and allowing me to be able to attend this reunion. Keokuk Class of '81...... Thank you for giving me good memories and an awesome high school experience! As one of my class mates said the other day, though our class didn't do anything spectacular or special, there truly was/is something very special about this class. That carries through as we enter this weekend.

So, Class of '81..... are you ready???? See you at the Reunion!
