When i was going through my chemo treatments, St. Patricks' Day fell right at the end of my 2nd round of the nasty stuff. As soon as my counts recovered sufficiently from the chemo, I was facing surgery on my thyroid, to see if I had thyroid cancer. We were living in Clarion and, fortunately, the boys had one of those friends who always came to our house and always was good for a laugh. It must have been a weekend day (or a blizzard day!), because all 3 of those boys were at our house the entire day. And I must have been feeling pretty good.
For breakfast that day I made green pancakes and eggs, along with green colored milk. There was green Koolaid to drink throughout the day. We had green mashed potatoes, green mac n cheese, and whatever else I could come up with that I could make green that day. It had been a hard winter, with me going through cancer treatments, and us experiencing our first NW Iowa winter full force. I must have been feeling pretty darn "springy" that day! And I'm glad. We still remember that day quite fondly, with all the green food. (And the boys all 3 made sure to let me know that their visits to the toliet for a while were green, too! Then they would giggle and run off to have more fun.)
I remember some other St. Pat's Days, but none so well as that one. However, I have a good friend who lives in New Jersey. Greg is Irish and, well, he looks a bit leprachaun-ish himself! Greg enjoys St. Pat's Day more than anyone else I've ever met. Every year, on St. Patrick's Day, Greg calls me up and serenades me with Irish songs. It's an annual event by now. One that I enjoy very much. It's not every day that a girl gets serenaded by a leprachaun-ish sort of fellow!!
In other news, I'm getting to the end of my proverbial rope with sick boys here. Last Friday, Jonah went to the dr. and tested positive for strep throat. Sat., Jordan started needed to visit the bathroom on much more than a regular basis. Tues., he tested positive for strep throat. (We moved here at the end of Jan., and the is the 2nd go round with strep for both boys since then.) Jordan is still fighting the runs to the bathroom, and the dr. wants to see him back tomorrow if it's not better by then. Today, Jonah came home from school.... with the chills and a temp. Sigh. They are both still on antibiotics for the strep, so they may both go back to the dr. tomorrw. Sigh. Sigh. Sigh. They have another 3 day weekend coming up and the weather is so nice right now that it would be good if they could enjoy it. Not to mention, get back to school and stay there!!!!
I went on a visit today. I have a decision to make, but I need to talk it over with the boys, first, and they just aren't feeling well enough for that today. It's something that would be awesome in the long run, but would be a bit of a struggle for a while. I'll let you know what it is when a final decision is made! : )
No need to cook supper here tonight, as no one will eat it anyway. I think I'll just have some popcorn and try to catch my breath a bit. Then run around the house with the Lysol spray again! Sigh

Hope whatever it is is good news!

Isaiah 53:1-3: Who hath believed our report? and to whom is the arm of the LORD revealed? For he shall grow up before him as a tender plant, and as a root out of a dry ground: he hath no form nor comeliness; and when we shall see him, there is no beauty that we should desire him. He is despised and rejected of men; a man of sorrows, and acquainted with grief: and we hid as it were our faces from him; he was despised, and we esteemed him not.

Isaiah 53:4-6 ¶Surely he hath borne our griefs, and carried our sorrows: yet we did esteem him stricken, smitten of God, and afflicted. But he was wounded for our transgressions, he was bruised for our iniquities: the chastisement of our peace was upon him; and with his stripes we are healed. All we like sheep have gone astray; we have turned every one to his own way; and the LORD hath laid on him the iniquity of us all.
