Y'all are just going to have to stick with me on this one. I'm tired and the car events of the past couple of days are crazy even in my world. So, here we go......
Jordan's car, my old car, hasn't had heat in a couple of years. The seats are heated, the rear defrost works, and, there actually IS heat, it just doesn't blow out of the vents. If you drive on the highway, you can crack the rear windows and the flow-through air will keep things toasty-ish, by pulling the heat through the vents and the car. However, in town, it's almost a safely issue, since the windshield tends to fog/frost up in a hurry. Last year, no one drove the car all winter, so it was a non-issue. This winter, up until the past week, I'd driven the no heat car when it was really cold, so that Jordan wouldn't have the fogged up windshield problem. With me so far? Good.
Last week, Jordan's car, the Oldsmobile, went to the car hospital, to get it's blower fixed. While that car was gone, Jordan was able to drive Jessica's previous car, a Taurus. (Jessica is the boy's dad's girlfriend.) And though it may seem like it, we truly do not accumulate vehicles in the yards. Really.
Now the Taurus has a few other issues, but it does have heat! All was well in our car world. Until yesterday.
Yesterday the Taurus wouldn't start. It had started earlier in the day. Jordan drove it to take himself and Jonah to the doctor, since they were both home sick yesterday. Maybe the car thought that everyone should be sick? I don't know. All I know that it was not a good deal! By the time the Taurus wouldn't start, I was quite tired and it was dark and I wasn't doing anything to help the darn thing last night.
So, bright and early this morning, before they even have all of the doors unlocked at that WalMart place, I was out there to buy jumper cables. You may be wondering why, when I own a car like the Oldsmobile, with 260,000+ miles on it, I don't own a set of jumper cables. Ha! I DO own a nice set of jumper cables. However, they are IN the trunk of the Oldsmobile, at the car doctor. Sigh. Now I own two nice sets of jumper cables.
Regardless, I came home, ready to jump the Taurus and send the boys off to school, so that I could have about an hour of peace and quiet before I had to go to work. Things just are never that simple around here. Taurus and Malibu, nose to nose, hood up on the Malibu, jumper cables in hand....... and why in the world can't we get the hood on the Taurus open??? Good grief! We could NOT get the hood open on the Taurus. So, there went my Malibu, with Jordan driving, off to the high school. The boys drove to school. I had to have my mom take me to work.
So, after getting directions on how to open the hood on the Taurus, we were able to jump start it this evening. Yeah!!!! We let it run for quite a while, then off the boys went in it to pep band at the high school. Again, I'm thinking that I should have some peace and quiet. I ended up having to go to the store and had just settled in with a cat on my lap and football on tv when the dreaded text came. The Taurus wouldn't start again.
I refused to take off my comfy, fluffy, pink w/stars pj pants. Some things just aren't up for debate. I didn't care that there might be a whole parking lot full of high schoolers to see me in my pj pants. I wanted to stay snuggled with the cat watching football. Since I didn't get my way, I was for sure going to wear what I wanted to!
I drove to the high school. Pulled in, Malibu and Taurus, nose to nose. Popped the hood on the Malibu. Got the hood on the Taurus open. The Taurus is deader than dead. Not even enough juice left to pop the trunk...... which is where the brand new set of jumper cables is. The key that we have doesn't open the trunk either. At this point, I am the proud owner of two sets of worthless jumper cables.
Now, I'm still in my fluffy pink pj pants. The cat hasn't come back, but football is still on. The Malibu is sitting in the driveway. The darn Taurus is sitting in the parking lot at the high school. I'm guessing that I'll have to make another trip to the dreaded WalMart and buy a darn battery. I'll go to the high school, between jobs tomorrow, take the old battery out of the Taurus and put the new battery in. So that I can have my car and the boys can have a car. Otherwise, I would be posting a post long enough that it would take you a week and 10 days to read the scheduling nightmare that would ensue should we become a one car family. Between my two jobs, school, pep band, show choir and show choir band, and speech, x 2 teenage boys, throw in a girlfriend and various other social events and I know darn well who would be the one taking the taxi to work!!! Besides the absolute horror that it would be should we only have one car when the next grandson is born!!!! This would be one darn unhappy Grandma should I not be able to get there when he arrives!
So, a darn battery is about to become my Christmas gift to myself. Sigh. Not what I wanted. And it won't be wrapped and under the tree. But it is what it is and it sure could be worse.
Now, if I can manage to say away for a while, I'm going to watch that football game. And snuggle with Jojo. And try to stay awakeee......zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz.... G'night all!
Hope you got to see the rest of the game. We don't have a channel that has football on Thursdays. We pay way too much for cable anyway and don't want to add any more....

Psalms 18:30-32 As for God, his way is perfect: the word of the LORD is tried: he is a buckler to all those that trust in him. For who is God save the LORD? or who is a rock save our God? It is God that girdeth me with strength, and maketh my way perfect.

ReplyDeletePsalms 63:5-8 My soul shall be satisfied as with marrow and fatness; and my mouth shall praise thee with joyful lips: When I remember thee upon my bed, and meditate on thee in the night watches. Because thou hast been my help, therefore in the shadow of thy wings will I rejoice. My soul followeth hard after thee: thy right hand upholdeth me.

And because ye are sons, God hath sent forth the Spirit of his Son into your hearts, crying, Abba, Father.
