After the wedding

We all survived the wedding. In fact, we survived the wedding with flying colors! We had a wonderfully awesome time! Family and friends were there to share it with us. I'm going to have to go out on a limb here and say that laughter was pretty much the word of the weekend! Oh goodness! Dustin told Amber, a couple of days before the wedding, that she should realize that the ceremony was basically going to be "20 minutes of stand up comedy"! At least he gave us a warning! : )

The ceremony was great. It really was. Having someone officiate the ceremony who had never officiated at such a large wedding before fit right in with the whole weekend. There was one point in the ceremony where Dustin leaned over and spent a little while talking into the officiator's ear. I never did think to ask him what he said, but it was interesting!

Then, there was the lighting of the unity candle. I'm hoping that I can get a video of this eventually. I know that it was taped. I will try to describe it to you, but unless you know Dustin, or were there, this probably won't seem all that funny....

When Dustin and Amber went to light the unity candle, it wouldn't light. They had lit it at rehearsal, just to make sure that it would light. At the ceremony, no such luck. After they tried a little while to light it with candles, Dustin held up on finger....... signaling "just a minute". Then, he picked up the unity candle and dumped out the excess wax. I don't even know what he dumped the wax on! Then, they tried to light it with the candles again. Still no go. So, Dustin whips out a lighter and lit the unity candle with the lighter. He then signaled Amber to put her candle up by the unity candle, so that it looked like they were lighting it. It was both comical (we were all laughing quite heartily!), and sweet. Dustin took an issue that could have caused bridal melt down and just handled it!

Then, there was the kiss. You know, the kiss where the groom gets to kiss his bride? Dustin, being Dustin, stuck his hand up in front of their faces before the kiss, to block our view! More laughter and then we got to see the kiss. It was a very relaxed, sweet, and very Amber and Dustin. Perfect? No. Perfect for them? Absolutely!

The reception was also awesome. More comedy... the best man should write best man speeches. He's getting quite good at it... he was Eric's best man, too! Hopefully I'll get a copy of that speech, too and be able to share it with you. Just a hoot!

We danced and we celebrated and had a great time! I've put some pictures on Facebook, but they aren't pictures that I took. I used Amber's camera over the weekend and for some reason she thought that she needed to take that camera on their trip. They left today. So did my pictures. But, they will be back and then I'll share them with you. The ones on FB are one's that my mom took. They are good!

I'm still tired and catching up on sleep. Losing some sleep in order to have a weekend like we just had is more than worth it. Nothing could have been better.

Will share more soon.!

Psalms 120:1-3 In my distress I cried unto the LORD, and he heard me. Deliver my soul, O LORD, from lying lips, and from a deceitful tongue. What shall be given unto thee? or what shall be done unto thee, thou false tongue?
